Between The Waves & UCAN Partnership – A Conference Within A Conference

by | May 20, 2019 | 0 comments

Between The Waves Madison Music Conference and Festival (BTW) is partnering with the Urban Community Arts Network (UCAN) to incorporate their Level Up Music Industry Conference program into the third annual BTW. At the BTW 2019, UCAN will join with BTW to reach a wider audience, specifically the Hip-Hop community. The lineup features DJ Bonics of Minneapolis’s 95.3 GO Radio, Bo Deal, formerly of Brick Squad, and manager and entrepreneur Damien Ritter. In addition, one highlight will be the annual Beatmakers Brawl, a jointly sponsored beat battle, hosted by UCAN on Friday night of the festival portion of BTW.

“As BTW grows, we are grateful for the opportunity to partner with such a meaningful community organization. Together we can continue to put Madison in the nation’s music industry spotlight,“ stated festival founder and Broadjam CEO Roy Elkins. “UCAN has been at the forefront of education for the Hip-Hop community and especially helping our youth realize their potential. We couldn’t be more proud to partner with UCAN.”

BTW 2019 takes place at the Monona Terrace Convention Center on June 7 – 9 and various venues around Madison. Topics to be covered at the conference will include creative and production tips, licensing music, social media strategies, touring, radio, booking gigs and merchandise, with all presenters focusing on making a living making music.

“We are proud to join forces with BTW and bring the Level Up conference to an expanded audience, says UCAN Co-Founder and community leader Karen Reece, “The focus of BTW aligns with ours and we’re excited to contribute to this growing and innovative event.”

Urban Community Arts Network, Ltd., better known as UCAN, is a non-profit organization in Madison WI dedicated to supporting sustainability in the Madison Hip-Hop community and advocating for equity in the local arts and entertainment scene. Our free, outdoor concerts, professional development opportunities, civic engagement around nightlife policy and practice, and artist residencies in middle and high schools aim to ensure that all artists can thrive in the city where they live, work, and play. For more information, please email Karen Reece at [email protected]

Between The Waves, known as BTW provides musicians the knowledge to pursue, the expertise to implement, and the tools to guide their journey toward earning a living making music. Experienced industry professionals share relevant practical knowledge and provide specific actionable takeaways during independent musician focused conference sessions on topics such as songwriting, music technology, marketing, creative arts law, and business matters. A varied session structure including lectures, interactive roundtables, workshops, panel discussions, memoir-style talks, ask-me-anything style Q&As, panel reviews, one-on-one mentoring, and technology demos contributes to an engaging attendee experience and frees presenters to tailor session structure to the subject matter.
