Out actor Matt Bomer will serve as honorary chair of the 29th AIDS Walk Wisconsin & 5K Run. Officials with the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin made the announcement at the organization’s 32nd annual Make a Promise fundraiser in late April, which drew over 900 supporters to the Wisconsin Center in Milwaukee.

The 29th Annual AIDS Walk Wisconsin & 5K Run takes place on October 6 at the Summerfest Grounds.

Money raised through AIDS Walk Wisconsin supports ARCW’s health care, social services, and prevention efforts. A portion of the proceeds are also donated to other selected regional organizations serving people with HIV/AIDS.

Bomer, the award-winning star of The Normal Heart, Magic Mike, American Horror Story: Hotel, and dozens of other feature films and television dramas, is currently appearing on Broadway in a revival of the seminal gay play The Boys in the Band. He made his directorial debut this year with The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.

Last year’s honorary chair was out television star Jane Lynch.
