LGBTQ people are often put in an uncomfortable (or worse, downright insulting) position when working with traditional / heteronormative / straight photographers. From being misgendered to being asked to pose in ways that don’t jive with your identity, having your photo taken by someone who doesn’t see you as you see yourself can be a painful (or just frankly annoying) experience.
This is the second in our series of LGBTQ photo pop-up events. My partner KC Councilor and I are offering FREE mini photo sessions for LGBTQ folks looking for a headshot, a beautiful couple portrait, or a family photo that is aligned with who your family actually is. Everyone who attends will have access to view all of their images online and choose their favorite, which I’ll make available as a full-size digital download. The rest of the photos we get will be available for a sliding scale fee as full-size digial downloads.
We are invested in creating a safe space for all sexual and gender identities, physical abilities, races and religions. We will work with you before the camera ever comes up to make sure we understand what you’re after in a portrait. We use light, body language, and emotion to bring out the version of you you want the world to see. We will have an indoor and outdoor space available for portraits, and will use both to our advantage to make sure you have a variety of gorgeous photographs to choose from.
Also, we just want to connect with other queers in Madison. So come by, bring your partners/friends/families, and help us launch our passion project–the LGBTQ Photo Pop-Up–in Madison!
