The first all LGBTQ+ cast of RENT will be performing three times at The Janesville Performing Arts Center. We say “first” because according to MTI, the international musical theater licensing company, we are indeed the FIRST all queer cast in their history to put on “RENT.”
This production is a celebration of queer identities and intersections of all kinds, while simultaneously honoring and recognizing a crucial part of our community’s history with the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
Shows are: September 30th @ 6:30pm, October 1st @ 6:30pm and October 2nd @ 1:00pm.
***The show on October 1st will be interpreted into ASL. If you require seats near the interpreters, please email [email protected] to reserve them.
The JPAC theater, restrooms, and lobby are accessible for patrons in wheelchairs. There is a set of stairs from the lobby to the theater (a lift is available for those who require it) and 5-6 steps down into the main floor seating once in the theater. There is also a balcony option, which requires patrons to walk down a hallway and up 2 flights of stairs to gain access.
NOTE: This show references subject matter such as suicide, drug use, sex, etc. and is not suitable for all ages. Please use discretion if bringing a minor. There will also be mild use of strobe lights throughout the performance. This lighting may be disruptive to people that are sensitive to light.
