Join us to learn about the rich history of 123 W. Gilman Street.

Speakers will be:
Gary Tipler of The Clarenbach House Project
Michele Besant with LGBTQ Archives
Kurt Stege President of Madison Trust for Historic Preservation
Steve Starkey Director of OutReach LGBT Community Center.

The house is significant for the advancement of civil liberties and was a center of political and community activism from the mid-1970s through mid-1980s. Among the residents were State Representative David Clarenbach who was the chief sponsor of AB70, signed into law in 1982 as the first gay rights law in the nation, Lynn Haanen and Jim Yeadon known for their groundbreaking work in LGBTQ civil rights work.

The Clarenbach House Project is sponsored by numerous individuals, the Madison Trust for Historic Preservation, Inc., and OutReach, Inc.
