The race\, officially named Rudy’s Rainbow Mile\, will honor the late Rudy Rosbeck-Ledesma\, a Run Madtown participant and supporter of the Wisconsin running community. \nRudy’s Rainbow Mile also pays tribute to Rudy’s connection to the event through his spouse\, T.J. Rosbeck-Ledesma AKA Harmony Breeze\, who serves as the event finish line announcer for Run Madtown. \nRudy’s Rainbow Mile will take place Saturday\, May 23 at 6 p.m.\, beginning and ending on State Street\, the same start and finish line used for all Run Madtown events. \nKnown for his vibrant personality\, Rudy loved performing as a singer and dancer\, advocating for equality\, traveling to warm destinations and spending time with his spouse. Professionally\, he worked as an ophthalmology technician at Aurora Health Care in Milwaukee. \nThe new race will also support Courage+\, a Milwaukee nonprofit supported by Rudy and T.J. that provides LGBTQ+ youth with a sense of community centered on care\, safety and acceptance while advocating for meaningful systemic change. \nParticipants in Rudy’s Rainbow Mile will receive a race bib\, professional timing provided by Laurel Race Timing\, a finisher’s medal and a pair of brightly colored sunglasses. The glasses are a fitting tribute to Rudy\, who was known for wearing rainbow glasses during nearly every activity. \nThe one-mile format is designed to be welcoming and accessible for runners and walkers of all abilities. Our mission is to give back to those who like Kevin’s family received so much help and love while battling brain cancer. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvery Bit Helps\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe invite you to come play in this friendly tournament or sign up to volunteer. Proceeds will be donated to the UW School Of Medicine and Public Health’s Human Oncology department in Madison\, WI and used for brain cancer research as well as fund this tournament each year as it continues to grow. If you can’t or don’t want to play or volunteer\, consider giving a donation. Last year we were able to raise an additional $5\,000 for on top of everything else we did!!
