Ward will reflect on the writers and experiences that have shaped her voice\, as well as the role of literature as both testimony and survival. \nJesmyn Ward received her MFA from the University of Michigan and is the recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship\, a Stegner Fellowship\, the Strauss Living Prize\, and the 2022 Library of Congress Prize for American Fiction. She has won the National Book Award for Fiction twice—for Salvage the Bones and Sing\, Unburied\, Sing Her memoir Men We Reaped was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award and received the Chicago Tribune Heartland Prize and the Media for a Just Society Award. Look no further than these regular Wednesday night gentle yoga sessions. \nStarting Wednesday\, May 14th at 6:00 p.m.\, Bruce Kiefaber will begin sponsoring weekly one-hour outdoor yoga sessions at Lake Farms Park – just off the bike trail. This outdoor pavilion looks out over the Nine Springs e-Way with beautiful views. There is a nearby parking lot for those who use a car\, and if you ride a bike\, you can’t miss the pavilion as it is feet from the bike trail. \nPlease bring a yoga mat\, and water if you want. \nA donation of $10 per class is suggested\, but not required. \nWe hope to see you there. ||

DESCRIPTION:This event: May be of interest to the LGBTQ community || Have you recently completed a body of work that you’re excited to share with the world? Trying to sell your artwork online or pivot in a new direction? Do you have so many pieces of work that you’re not sure where to start? \nWork with artist and designer Ben Orozco and other Madison creative professionals on assembling\, updating\, and/or refining your portfolio in this hands-on\, weekly bootcamp\, back for a third year! Each participant will set a personal goal for their portfolio to pursue over six weeks. Each week\, Orozco will walk through a different process of building the creative portfolio and publicly presenting yourself and your work. The second half of class will be used for answering questions\, worktime\, and one-on-one time supporting each participant. \nPlease bring a laptop.
