DESCRIPTION:This event: Has LGBTQ content\, Is LGBTQ hosted\, May be of interest to the LGBTQ community || Join Fair Future Movement’s bi-weekly conversations as we celebrate LGBTQ+ history\, resilience\, and our deep connection to the natural world. SUMMARY:Rudy's Rainbow Mile
DESCRIPTION:This event: May be of interest to the LGBTQ community || Run Madtown is introducing a new one-mile race in 2026 that celebrates community\, inclusion and the life of a beloved supporter of the event. The race\, officially named Rudy’s Rainbow Mile\, will honor the late Rudy Rosbeck-Ledesma\, a Run Madtown participant and supporter of the Wisconsin running community. \nRudy’s Rainbow Mile also pays tribute to Rudy’s connection to the event through his spouse\, T.J. Rosbeck-Ledesma AKA Harmony Breeze\, who serves as the event finish line announcer for Run Madtown. \nRudy’s Rainbow Mile will take place Saturday\, May 23 at 6 p.m.\, beginning and ending on State Street\, the same start and finish line used for all Run Madtown events. \nKnown for his vibrant personality\, Rudy loved performing as a singer and dancer\, advocating for equality\, traveling to warm destinations and spending time with his spouse. Professionally\, he worked as an ophthalmology technician at Aurora Health Care in Milwaukee. \nThe new race will also support Courage+\, a Milwaukee nonprofit supported by Rudy and T.J. that provides LGBTQ+ youth with a sense of community centered on care\, safety and acceptance while advocating for meaningful systemic change. \nParticipants in Rudy’s Rainbow Mile will receive a race bib\, professional timing provided by Laurel Race Timing\, a finisher’s medal and a pair of brightly colored sunglasses. The glasses are a fitting tribute to Rudy\, who was known for wearing rainbow glasses during nearly every activity. \nThe one-mile format is designed to be welcoming and accessible for runners and walkers of all abilities. Whether you’re racing for a personal best or simply showing up in support\, Rudy’s Rainbow Mile is about celebrating community\, joy and belonging. \nRudy’s Rainbow Mile joins the full slate of fun during Run Madtown weekend and is expected to become one of the most emotional and celebratory parts of the event.\nRegistration details and additional event information are available at https://runmadtown.com/ || $30 and up
