Madison – Local Attorney Rev. Everett Mitchell announced on Tuesday his candidacy for Judge of the Fourth Circuit Court Branch of Dane County.

“I’m excited to talk with the people of Dane County about my credentials to serve them as a competent and considerate judge,” said Mitchell. “Dane County residents deserve a judge that will serve justice for all.”

Already, leaders in Dane County have offered support for Mitchell and his candidacy.

“Everett has shown how deeply committed he is to serving the people of Dane County as a community advocate, prosecutor, and pastor,” said Representative Chris Taylor (D-76), who will serve as the campaign’s treasurer.

YWCA Madison CEO Rachel Krinsky offered additional praise, stating

“Everett Mitchell has the ability, the courage, and the integrity to do what the law requires a judge to do.” said Dr. Floyd Rose, President of 100 Black Men of Madison.

Everett Mitchell previously served as a Dane County Assistant District Attorney and Associate Director of Madison-area Urban Ministry and currently works as the Director of Community Relations for the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is also Pastor of Christ the Solid Rock Baptist Church in Madison.

Mitchell is a graduate of Morehouse College, Princeton Seminary where he earned a Masters of Divinity and Masters of Theology, and received his Juris Doctor from UW Law School.

Rev. Mitchell and his wife, Mankah, live in Sun Prairie, with their two children.

Incumbent Fourth Branch Circuit Court Judge Amy Smith is not seeking re-election.
