Position Summary

Under the general supervision and working closely with the Director of Circus World, the Operations Manager will coordinate and manage the overall operations of museum. It serves as Circus World’s expert on day to day operations, ensuring they are handled efficiently and completely.

The incumbent will create and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with local partners, especially in underserved communities. The incumbent researches, develops, disseminates, and evaluates the effectiveness of day to day operational needs, staffing, budgeting, forecasting, groups, tours, facilities, and other programs aimed at achieving the best in guest experience. Responsible for supervision of staff responsible for facilities and operation support. Incumbent provides direction to Circus World staff on operations, contributes to strategic planning for Circus World, supports development efforts of the Circus World Museum Foundation, and advocates for Circus World with key stakeholders and the media.

Salary Information

Pay range is $35.00 – $40.00 per hour. This classification is in schedule and class 81-03.

Certain positions within WHS may allow remote/work from home flexibility for a portion of their work schedule, depending on the needs of the position and the work unit. This topic and any remote work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process.

All state employees are required to report their COVID vaccination status, whether vaccinated or not, and must provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. Minimally qualified candidate will have all of the following:

  • Experience coordinating events, programs and productions for diverse audiences of over 100 people
  • Experience supervising and managing staff (assigning work, creating performance evaluations, initiating staffing decisions).
  • Experience managing day to day operations of an attraction, museum or entertainment setting including facilities, guest services and customer experience.
  • Experience in budget creation, management and tracking.


In addition to minimum qualifications, a well-qualified candidate will have at least one of the following:

  • Experience working in the circus arts, culture, productions and operations.
  • Experience supporting fundraising and donor events.
  • Experience coordinating travelling productions, exhibitions, or entertainment platforms.
