Dining Room Coordinator

The Dining Room Coordinator is responsible for all resident dining services and the service of staff meals. This position will be responsible for monitoring and handling resident concerns, designing and coordinating dining area table décor along with providing direction to kitchen staff during the absence of the Dining Services Manager.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for dietary aide staffing assignments, guest meal reservations and general appearance of the dining room before meal service.
Responsible for the direct leadership of dietary aide staff with input into staff evaluations and corrective actions, as needed; will schedule staff to ensure prompt and courteous service and enhance the resident dining experience while remaining within budget guidelines.
Motivates and encourages dietary aide’s to reach optimal performance levels.
Responsible for waiting tables and assisting wait staff as needed.
Responsible for communication between dining room and kitchen especially during meal services times.
Responsible for the distribution of menus to independent living and assisted living.
Responsible for recording daily receipts of wait staff tickets, balancing the cash receipts and sending the charge tickets to Finance in the absence of the Dining Services Manager
Responsible to coordinate dining room table decorations to include holidays and special occasions. Will monitor weekly linen orders and timely processing of invoicing; will order table paper products to provide optimal enjoyment to residents while remaining within budget guidelines.
Responsible to monitor the meals in the Dining Room, recording statistics to be utilized in the strategic planning to address ongoing and future resident needs in the absence of Dining Services Manager.
Responsible for maintaining excellent customer service and handling of resident food concerns promptly and efficiently; will monitor the dining room on a routine basis, and attend Resident Food Concerns monthly meetings in the absence of the Dining Services Supervisor.
Responsible for pre-service preparation, seating assignments and set-ups, non-entrée preparations, room temperature, and general appearance of the dining room.
Responsible for all safety and sanitation practices within the dining areas to include systems for accurate documentation of cleaning assignments and monitoring of food handling practices to insure compliance to state and local regulations as well as departmental policies.
Responsible for overseeing end of night cleanup and security of the kitchen.
Responsible for the coordination of catered events.
Responsible for keeping dining room neat and sanitary. This includes linens, placemats and staff check-in area.
Responsible to be prepared for and to assist with regulatory survey as needed.
Responsible to participate with team members to design and implement menu systems which enhance resident satisfaction, meet unit regulatory requirements and are within budget guidelines.
Responsible to design as needed and participate in Quality Assurance projects in an effort to enhance the dining service by practicing continuous quality improvement.
Responsible to assist the Dining Services Manager to develop emergency and disaster plans to meet regulatory compliance and to ensure continuity of nutritional care for all residents.
Responsible to support post-secondary dietary students from various institutions in an effort to contribute to the overall educational effort while protecting Oakwood’s mission and philosophy.
Responsible for other similar duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Strong oral, written and customer service skills.
Knowledge of electronic skills – computer and POS systems.
Demonstrates excellent customer service strategies.
Basic knowledge of health care food service.
Knowledge of effective leadership techniques.
Ability to maintain and protect the confidentiality of confidential information.
Ability to plan, prioritize and organize work.
Ability to carry out job responsibilities in an accurate and conscientious manner.
Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions.
Ability to lead department in day-to-day and strategic planning, as needed in absence of Supervisor.
Ability to provide leadership that fosters a team approach in meeting the mission of Oakwood.
Must be willing to accept weekend/holiday work schedule and occasional overtime.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND/OR TRAINING

High school diploma or equivalency required.
Minimum 3 years food service experience and/or training in a related setting preferred.
Minimum 1 year of leadership experience preferred.
Food Safety Certification or willingness to obtain within six months of employment.
