This position will assist the Agroforestry Adoption Team’s efforts to increase landowners’ engagement in Farm Bill programs and improve the ability of local and state agencies, as well as Tribal Nations, to deliver agroforestry technical support. This position will work closely with other members of our Agroforestry Adoption team.

Start Date: May 2023
Salary: $57,000 to $62,000

– This position is eligible for the Institute’s benefits package. Benefits for full-time employees include 30 days paid time off per year, a Health Reimbursement arrangement that can be applied to insurance premiums and approved healthcare costs, and a monthly home office stipend.
– This position will report to the TSP Team Manager
– This position will require travel using a personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement

Duties/Responsibilities
● Consult with farmers & landowners to develop plans for agroforestry practices based on their goals
● Assist farmers with accessing Farm Bill programs for technical and financial assistance for agroforestry
● Assist in implementation and reporting on a USDA-funded grant agreement
● Coordinate program evaluation and development

Required Qualifications
● Agricultural experience
● Experience with agroforestry, horticulture, forestry, or other related agricultural practices
● Strong interpersonal communication skills
● Experience with GIS or equivalent tools
● Commitment to participating in a collaborative environment
● Experience working with a high degree of autonomy and accountability
● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a field related to agriculture
● Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for occasional work-related travel

Preferred Qualifications
● Experience with Farm Bill programs or other programs that provide technical and financial support
● Experience with farm enterprises and cropping systems
● Experience with client management
● Experience with landscape and/or farm design
