Madison Symphony Orchestra announces Auditions for 2016-17 season

The Madison Symphony Orchestra will hold auditions for the 2016-17 season on the following schedule:

Tues.-Wed., Sept. 6-7             Section Violin (three Regular positions, 1 Violin I; 2 Violin II;                                                                                                                                    one 1-year position, possibly permanent, Violin I)

Thurs., Sept. 8                        Section Viola (one Regular position)

Fri., Sept. 9                             Principal and Section Bass (two Regular positions)

Sat., Sept. 10                           Substitute Cello; Substitute Bassoon

 

If a current member of the MSO wins a new position, these auditions may be used to fill the resulting opening.

Qualified candidates are encouraged to sign up for an audition time by emailing a one-page resume to [email protected]. A list of excerpts and a season schedule are also available. A $50 refundable deposit will be required to secure an audition time.

All musicians qualifying for a position will be expected to attend all rehearsals and concerts as instrumentation demands. The MSO is a professional, fully orchestrated ensemble comprised of 91 contracted per-service musicians, offering approximately 80 services per season.
