Let’s hike the Balanced Rock Trail up the East Bluff and then back on the Tumbled Rock Trail. This is a vigorous hike up the Balanced Rock Trail and then a flat hike along the Tumbled Rock Trail. This is not a beginner up hill so if you are out of shape you do not want to start with this hike. Total hike is about 4 miles.
Bring water and wear good shoes. We’ll probably stop to eat something when we get to the north shore.
We will meet outside the entrance to the concession stand on the South Shore. The concession stand is located by the beach.
You will need a park sticker for this hike.
Note: cell phone coverage is spotty at the park so I will probably not get any messages that you send to me once I leave for the park.
What we’re about
A group for LGBTQ+ people, their friends, families and allies to come together and enjoy outdoor activities. These can include hiking, walking, running, biking, skiing, camping, backpacking, paddling and other outdoor recreational and social activities with people interested in the outdoors. This is a great way to experience the outdoors with other people who share your interests.
Members can suggest ideas for meetup activities, so feel free to share your ideas. If you want to be an organizer, let Jon know. There are a few guidelines for activities.
1. They should be fun! (Why have a meetup if it isn’t fun?)
2. They should be inclusive – anybody in the group can join in (if they have the proper gear when that’s required).
3. They should be safe. If risks are involved, they should be minimized following standard safety procedures, and potential participants should know about them ahead of time.
4. They follow the rules of the venue the activity is taking place in, i.e. stay on the trail, carry in/carry out, pets on a leash, etc..
5. They should be fun!
