Trans Day of Remembrance Care Drop-In

November 20, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

November 20 is the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance, a day we hold vigils to honor the Trans lives lost by violence. (TDOR) was started in 1999 by transgender advocate Gwendolyn Ann Smith as a vigil to honor the memory of Rita Hester, a transgender woman who was killed in 1998.
This is a day that can be very emotionally heavy for people of Trans experience. On Sun, Nov 20 — TDOR 2022, D&R Appleton invites Transgender, Gender Non-Conforming & Non-Binary folx, and those who love them to come to our space for a time of grounding and healing.
We are partnering with local & LGBTQ+ owned Nana’s Apothecary to provide a build-your-own candle workshop. You will be provided with help making your own candle with scent of choice (or unscented).
We will be setting intentions with these candles that you can take with you to your home or local TDOR vigil events.
If you are attending as a cisgender person with a Trans loved one, we ask you to center the voices and lived experiences of Trans folx, and consider setting an intention for safety protection.
Unfortunately, this event is not one to attend if you are sensitive to scents. The scents we and Nana’s have chosen promote grounding, healing, protection, love, emotional uplift and more.
We look forward to seeing you and sharing space with you.
