Reports to: Director of Housing
Summary:
The Courage House Manager is primarily responsible for the case management and implementation of treatment planning for youth in the program ages 12-17 years old, ensuring services are provided in alignment with Courage+’s mission and values and the Wisconsin state group home licensing regulations. This role focuses on building strong, supportive relationships with residents, coordinating individualized plans of care, and fostering a trauma-informed environment that promotes healing, growth, and empowerment through overseeing daily house and program operations. We are seeking someone who is highly organized; with excellent time management skills, who is detail-oriented, compassionate, and committed to making a meaningful impact in the lives of LGBTQ+ youth in the out of home care, child welfare system throughout the state of Wisconsin.
This is a full-time, salaried position with Courage+. The Courage House Manager will typically be scheduled for 1st and/or 2nd shift coverage once or twice per week, with the possibility of occasional 3rd shift coverage as needed. The remainder of the weekly hours (ensuring a minimum of 40 total) are self-directed hours to be dedicated to resident case management, overseeing referrals and intakes, participating in care team meetings, and meeting any additional needs of the house, program, and/or residents.
Essential Functions:
Leadership
- Create and maintain staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and program needs.
- Attending once a month Leadership Team Meetings and quarterly QRTP meetings.
- Ensure compliance with all Courage+ policies and procedures, state licensing standards, and program requirements.
- Internal audits for resident and personnel files for quality assurance and compliance with contracts, licensing, and funding sources.
- Obtain and track at least 24 hours of continuing education annually; complete all additional required trainings.
- Serve as Manager Emergency Contact one week per month on a rotational basis, responding to crises and/or emergencies as needed.
- Collaborate with and provide feedback to the Director of Housing on program performance and alignment with Courage+ mission and values.
- Monitor referrals through SYNC and other platforms; communicate with social workers in a timely and professional manner.
- Conduct orientation and initial training for onboarding Youth Development Coordinators.
- Ensure completion of all month end filing, billing, and record keeping.
- Supervise in-house volunteers to ensure compliance with all Courage+ policies and state required regulations.
Resident Case Management
- Schedule and conduct resident interviews and intakes for placement.
- Meet with youth individually at least once per month to review case management, goals, and program compliance.
- Facilitate and keep regulatory compliance up to date on resident initial assessment, treatment plans and goals within the first 30 days of intake and every 3 months thereafter, per licensing standards.
- Build supportive, therapeutic relationships with youth to minimize crises and model appropriate supervision, boundaries, and communication.
- De-escalate crises when they occur, ensuring timely and accurate documentation of incident reports.
- Collaborate with residents’ case managers to stay updated on safety plans, education, and mental health needs; attend care team meetings, IEP meetings, and other required meetings.
- Oversee and document residents’ medication administration accurately; monitor refills through weekly counts.
- Provide transportation using the company vehicle as needed for resident appointments, activities, and other supports.
House Management
- Facilitate monthly resident house meetings to address community concerns and foster shared accountability.
- Observe, assess, and document resident activity in accordance with agency and program standards (shift logs, incident reports, crisis plans, etc.).
- Maintain the home environment in alignment with agency and licensing standards; promptly report maintenance issues to the Director of Housing.
- Independently address routine maintenance and upkeep within your ability (e.g., lawn care, snow removal) and coordinate with a plumber or maintenance company when outside support is needed.
- Oversee food inventory, menu planning, and grocery ordering while staying within budget.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all written and verbal communications.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Special Education, Psychology, Counseling and Guidance, or Criminal Justice preferred.
- Minimum of three years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to give and receive feedback professionally.
- Must be capable of transporting youth and hold a valid driver’s license.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
- Successful completion of background check, physical, and TB test required.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to sit, walk, and stand for extended periods
- Frequently required to push, pull, grasp, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination required for working with youth and handling office, medical, and household equipment
- Ability to assist and lift up to 50 pounds with varying levels of support
- Corrected vision and hearing within normal range required
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle required
- CPR certification required
Work Environment:
- Occasional exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious substances, and communicable diseases during personal care
- Occasional exposure to cleaning agents and disinfectants
- Residential work environment with noise levels ranging from normal to loud

Compensation:
- Salary: $44,000–$48,000 annually (based on experience)
- $150 monthly health stipend
- 128 hours (16 days) PTO annually
