Angels Of Dirt – Wisconsin Premiere

April 7 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

$15
“Angels Of Dirt,” Madison filmmaker Wendy Schneider’s new documentary about female motorcycle racers, will have its Wisconsin premiere on Sunday, April 7 at Madison’s Barrymore Theatre as part of the Wisconsin Film Festival. Schneider will be at the screening to take part in a post-show Q&A.
In 2006, award-winning director Wendy Schneider (“The Smart Studios Story,” “CUT”) began filming young racers at Aztalan Cycle Club, a small track in Lake Mills, Wisconsin. There, she came to know a community who represent the unwavering bond that can develop around life and sport.
At the heart of “Angels Of Dirt” is Charlotte Kainz, a young racer from outside Milwaukee given her first motorcycle by her father Jack when she was only six weeks old. At the age of 4 she was riding, and a year later she was a competitive racer. Schneider met Charlotte when she was 9 and followed her and other young female racers for several years. As Charlotte competed at local dirt tracks and at national events, defying the odds and expectations, she became an inspiration to those around her.
Through interviews with racers, legends, family members, officials and sponsors, “Angels Of Dirt” traces the life and career of the young racer, along with the people and experiences that helped her grow into a young woman with a conviction and self-determination that factored into every race, every decision, and every relationship she had. While Charlotte’s story ended in tragedy, the impact she had on and off the track reverberates through the film.
