The Politics of Identity and Representation in the Arts
April 8 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
FreeThis event: Has LGBTQ content, May be of interest to the LGBTQ community ||
This talk is part of the public programming for Flores Nocturnas (Blooming at Night), a solo exhibition by Mexico-city based, multimedia artist Sofia Moreno, which includes works that envision fantastical scenes centering brown trans femme pleasure, kinship, and futurity. During the talk, Moreno and poet Gustavo Barahona-López, whose oeuvre includes reflections on Latinx masculinities and growing up in a Mexican immigrant home, will discuss how identity (e.g., gender, national) and the politics of representation in the arts influence the content and reception of their work.
