WTMJ, the NBC affiliate in Milwaukee, WI, owned by The E.W. Scripps Company is looking for a dynamic, engaging, and community-minded Weekday Evening Meteorologist. The Weekday Evening Meteorologist is responsible for preparing and delivering accurate weather reports for the evening newscasts. The Weekday Evening Meteorologist will oversee talented meteorologists in a department that uses the WSI Augmented Reality Weather graphics system in-studio and in the field.  You’ll have all kinds of weather forecasting and data gathering tools at your fingertips, including the TMJ4 Storm Chaser which is Milwaukee’s only mobile weather lab. The four seasons in Milwaukee include severe storms, snow squalls, ice, tornadoes, and more. This is not an entry-level position. You’ll need to be ready to rock-and-roll on day one. You’ll also need at least 7-years of experience and an AMS and/or NWA seal to be considered. You’ll serve as an Ambassador for the station and will be in the community on a regular basis.   • Prepare and deliver daily weather content utilizing all available weather data and graphics computers.
  • Prepare and deliver urgent weather updates interrupting regular programming as necessary.
  • Prepare and deliver all weather content over multiple platforms.
  • Assist management in evaluations of potential new weather data gathering and presentation computers.
  • Report live from event sites.
  • Write and produce content for multiple platforms.
  • Report, write, capture visual content, edit, produce and post stories for multiple platforms as a weather storyteller.
  • Gather and verify factual information regarding stories through interview, observation, and research.
  • Perform various community service activities for station as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



  • Bachelors degree in journalism, meteorology, or related field.
  • The meteorologist must have the NWS and/or AMS seal.
  • 7-years of experience required.



  • Computer literacy required, including weather and newsroom computer systems.
  • Knowledge of broadcast quality camera equipment.
  • Knowledge of Final Cut Pro editing systems, or similar editing equipment.
  • Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills.
  • Proficient at posting content to various websites
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
  • Must be able to drive for company business and/or in a company vehicle.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required. In addition, proof of insurance and liability coverage may be required.
