We invite you to join us for our annual dinner, a celebration of the work that OPEN does for LGBTQ professionals, executives, students, artists and our allies. This year, we welcome as keynote speakers JudiTrampf and Katy Heyning, one of eight couples that challenged Wisconsin’s constitutional amendment defining marriage as between one man and one woman. Click here to learn more about Judy and Katy.

Keynote Speaker:

Chris Ahmuty has been the executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Wisconsin since 1992. He has provided leadership to the group on many civil liberties issues, including LGBTQ concerns. He was a leader early on, in the 90s, of the Milwaukee based LGBTQ advocacy group, Lambda Rights Network. He has worked with other Wisconsin based LGBTQ groups over the years, including Action Wisconsin and its successor group, Fair Wisconsin.

He was part of the ACLU team that connected with Wisconsin’s LGBTQ community after the ACLU’s victory in June 2013 in United States v. Windsor, in which the United States Supreme Court struck down the federal recognition section of the Defense of Marriage Act.

Chris and his partner of 35 years, Bob Schlack, are evaluating the financial and other consequences of entering into a civil marriage contract. They live in Milwaukee.
