The City of Madison and Madison Parks are excited to bring Ride the Drive to Madison’s Eastside!  We will be hosting Ride the Drive-Eastside on Sunday, August 24th from 10am to 3pm.

Ride the Driveis a car-free, care free event that transforms some of Madison’s streets into a public promenade. During the Eastside event, roads in the 2.2-mile route are open for participants to bike, skate or walk through some of Madison’s signature streets. The event is free and open to the public. Along the route, there will be two activity villages with kids’ activities, informational booths, music from WORT and WMMM, food vendors and other entertainment for thousands of participants to enjoy. Olbrich Botanical Gardens will also be open to the public.

The Eastside will have more of a neighborhood block party feel than our downtown events, highlighting the neighborhoods surrounding Atwood and South Fair Oaks Avenue. Two years ago the neighborhood Ride the Drive event opened up streets to bikers and walkers on the northside, and last year it was the westside! For 2014, we are pleased to bring the event to the Madison’s eastside.

Volunteers Still Needed! Madison Parks is currently recruiting volunteers to help at this event.  Volunteers are essential to the event’s success. We have opportunities available from area captain, to intersection guide to bike ambassador. Sign up today and be a part of one of Madison’s coolest bike events!  http://www.cityofmadison.com/parks/RideTheDrive/eastside/volunteers.cfm

Get out your bikes and join us on August 24 from 10am to 3pm for Ride the Drive – Eastside!
