MILWAUKEE — Fair Wisconsin PAC has endorsed Jordan Roman in Wisconsin’s 12th Assembly District race, backing the challenger in his bid to unseat incumbent Rep. Russell Goodwin ahead of the Aug. 11, 2026, primary election.

The endorsement highlights LGBTQ+ issues as a central factor in the race. Fair Wisconsin PAC pointed to Goodwin’s March 20, 2025, vote in favor of legislation that would have barred transgender students from participating in K-12 school sports teams consistent with their gender identity.

In announcing the endorsement, Fair Wisconsin Executive Director Abigail Swetz said the organization is committed to holding elected officials accountable for votes affecting LGBTQ+ Wisconsinites.

“This endorsement of Jordan Roman sends a crystal clear message: no matter your political party, we will not tolerate a vote against the LGBTQ+ community,” Swetz said in a statement. “In a time when we are seeing such intense animosity against our transgender family members, and especially attacks on our trans youth, we must join in support of our entire community.”

Swetz also cited Roman’s ties to Milwaukee and his policy priorities, including public education funding and affordability, as reasons for the endorsement.

“With his deep connections to the Milwaukee community and his commitment to making life more affordable and our schools fully funded, Jordan Roman will be a champion for every Wisconsinite, including LGBTQ+ Wisconsinites,” Swetz said. “We must elect him to the Wisconsin State Assembly.”

The endorsement comes as LGBTQ+ advocacy organizations across Wisconsin continue to focus on state legislative races amid ongoing debates over transgender rights, youth sports participation and other issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community.

Assembly District 12 covers portions of Milwaukee County. Voters in the district will choose their party nominees in the Aug. 11 primary election, with the general election scheduled for Nov. 3.

Fair Wisconsin PAC is the political action committee affiliated with Fair Wisconsin, the statewide LGBTQ+ advocacy organization. The group regularly endorses candidates it believes will advance policies supporting LGBTQ+ equality and inclusion.
