Blown Away   //   Brad Kish & Brian Larson

February 2  //  Engaged December 21, 2020  //  Palm Springs, California

When planning our wedding, it was important to us that it be a unique and intimate day surrounded by our nearest and dearest. A small guestlist that included our immediate family and best friends allowed us to turn a one-day celebration into a week-long experience in Palm Springs.

We leased a 9-room compound and spent our wedding week enjoying the warm weather. Extending our nuptials over several days also allowed us to show our guests our favorite restaurants and shops in one of the most LGBTQ+ friendly cities in the country.  Another unique thing that happened was that during our ceremony in Joshua Tree National Park, the winds were gusting at nearly 40 mph, although you’d never know by looking at our photos. Stronger Than Ever   //   Andrew & Matthew Prenli

May 7  //  Engaged January 23, 2021  //  The Madison Club, Madison

We had both been from very hard pasts and somehow found each other. We built our relationship up during COVID, have fought through sickness, family grief with the recent loss of my beloved grandma (97 and was a mother to me), etc. We somehow still remain stronger than ever. Got My Vans On   //   Amy & Brit Eddy

May 22, 2022  //  Engaged April 10, 2022  //  Baraboo Arts Center, Baraboo

We had a small and intimate legal ceremony at Burke Park in Madison. We had our “big” wedding on September 10 at Baraboo Arts. Our wedding ceremony was written by Amy. We both wore checkered Vans with our formalwear. Instead of cake, we had a variety of our favorite donuts from Kwik Trip. Photographer: Roots to Wings Photography

A Small Box   //   Adam Erdmann & Shawn Langel

June 4, 2022  //  Engaged December 6, 2019  //  Lakeview Park, Middleton

The morning of our wedding, two unexpected things happened. The first was Adam getting a phone call from the Middleton Police Department. The moment you hear, “This is the Middleton Police Department calling,” your stomach drops out, and you’re just waiting for all your wedding planning to start unraveling. Someone had set up a tent in the park without a permit, but it was gone well before our wedding started.

The second unexpected thing was Shawn’s two sisters showing up that morning. They gave him a small box to open. Inside was an ivory silk hanky that was made from a piece of Shawn’s mom’s wedding dress. Shawn’s mom passed away in 2001, so this thoughtful gift brought both of us to tears immediately. A Tinder Triumph   //   Jazzmine Haygood & Anna Landry

June 4, 2022  //  Engaged April 10, 2021  //  Warner Park, Madison

Jazzmine and Anna met the old-fashioned way: They matched on tinder and talked for a month before finally meeting up in Madison for their first date, which lasted approximately 7 hours. They were both in their final semesters of undergrad; Jazz at Marquette and Anna at UW-Madison. Although their individual futures felt uncertain, they found themselves naturally building a new future together.

They spent the summer traveling back and forth between Madison and Milwaukee for dates until Jazz moved to Madison in the fall. One pandemic, three cats, and countless adventures later, Anna proposed at the Memorial Union Terrace overlooking Lake Mendota (the same spot they shared their first kiss). They were married in a lovely, simple ceremony at Warner Park officiated by Dominique Zube. Photographer: Alyssa Lentz
