Wisconsin Unites for Marriage to advocate for the freedom to marry for same-sex couples in Wisconsin

On Thursday, August 7, plaintiff couples, community and religious leaders, and other supporters of the freedom to marry for all loving couples will gather in Appleton, Eau Claire, La Crosse, Madison and Milwaukee to announce a new coalition formed in the wake of the U.S. District Court ruling in June that ruled the state’s ban on recognizing the marriages of same-sex couples is unconstitutional.

ACLU of Wisconsin, Fair Wisconsin, and Freedom to Marry are joining forces to launch Wisconsin Unites for Marriage—a public education campaign with the goal of winning the freedom to marry for same-sex couples in our state.

MADISON – 10:00 AM, City County Building, 210 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Madison

APPLETON
 – 2:00 PM, RiverHeath, 1155 Banta Place, Appleton
Confirmed speakers: Lisa and Berri West, Rev. Roger Bertschausen, Appleton Mayor Tim Hanna, Aimee Zaleski of KC Pride (Kimberly-Clark)

LA CROSSE
 – 2:00 PM, City Hall, 400 La Crosse Street, La Crosse

MILWAUKEE – 2:00 PM, Plymouth Church, 2717 East Hampshire Street, Milwaukee
