Some love stories begin with fireworks. Ours began with two kids who walked the same hallways, breathed the same small-town air, and crossed paths without realizing fate was already doing quiet work.
Back in elementary school, we were in some of the same activities, two lives brushing past each other, two names on the same rosters, but we never truly met. Scott eventually moved away, and whatever small spark the universe had planted went dormant-but-not-forgotten.
Years passed. We grew up, lived life, made mistakes, chased dreams.
And then one night in downtown Chicago, when we were both 24
(on Scott’s birthday), everything shifted.
We met, and suddenly, it felt like we had known each other forever.
There was no “getting to know you” awkward stage. No games. No question marks.
Just two people who, from the moment they started talking,
couldn’t imagine not talking or being together forever. We became inseparable almost instantly. The kind of connection that feels both brand-new and familiar.
Maybe it was the history we didn’t realize we shared.
Maybe it was timing finally catching up to destiny.
Maybe it was just two souls recognizing each other after years
of near-misses.
Whatever it was, it worked! It felt easy, right, inevitable.
What started as a chance encounter in Chicago turned into a home,
a marriage, a beautiful daughter, and a life built on love that’s
both sweet and steady. It’s the kind of love that feels like it was
always supposed to happen.
Sometimes love doesn’t begin with a dramatic moment. Sometimes it begins in an elementary school classroom, quietly waiting for the right time to bloom.
And when it did for us, it bloomed into everything.
